Former English international, Alan Shearer has tipped teenager Tariq Lamptey to attain legendary status in his career.
The former Chelsea right-back has been impressive for Brighton & Hove Albion in the 2020/2021 football season and according to Shearer, the workaholic defender has what it takes to be great.
The English-defender who has Ghanaian roots has featured in all of Brighton’s 2 games in the English Premier League this season.
After a stellar outing for the team in their 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season, Tariq Lamptey followed up with another outstanding show during his team’s win against Newcastle United on Matchday 2.
His displays against the Magpies saw him being picked by Alan Shearer in his team of the week after the second matchday.
Justifying why he picked the defender, the EPL and Newcastle legend had words of praise for the Brighton gem.
“The teenager only played for an hour but that hour was outstanding. He was a constant threat with his pace and nearly scored a deserved goal. A brilliant future lies ahead”, Shearer said.
