Tariq Lamptey poised to keep working hard amidst applause for explosive start to the season

English-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Tariq Lamptey has stressed that he is determined to keep working hard in the midst of the huge applauds he is receiving for his stellar performance at the start of the season.

On the opening weekend of the 2020/2021 English Premier League season, the 19-year old featured for his Brighton & Hove Albion outfit when they played against Chelsea.

Although the team lost 3-1 at the end of the 90 minutes, Tariq Lamptey made an impact on the game and earned praise for his performance.

It was more of the same on Matchday 2 as he excelled for Brighton & Hove Albion in their win against Newcastle United.

One of the former footballers that have applauded the teenager for his performances is Jamie Carragher.

Reacting to praises from the former Liverpool defender, Tariq Lamptey says he is thankful as he insists that he will continue to work hard.

“I don’t know what to say. I appreciate all the praise and I’m thankful for it, but I just have to keep working hard and keep focusing, keep putting in good performances for the team”, he told Albion TV.

Lamptey added, “The main thing was the team got the win, but it’s great to get high praise from such fantastic ex-players.”

“There were quite a few tackles, but that’s football. You just have to keep getting up, really.”
