Ghana's Tariqe Fosu helped Rotherham United beat Sunderland 2-1 on Wednesday evening at New York Stadium.

The former Reading winger provided two assists against Sunderland.

Ollie Rathbone received a ball from Tariqe Fosu, ran unchallenged toward the 18-yard box, and sent a low left-footed shot across goalkeeper Anthony Patterson and into the corner to give the Millers the lead.

After the interval, Shane Ferguson increased the advantage by advancing quickly to receive Tariqe Fosu's wide ball and putting a low shot off the post.

Joe Gelhardt headed in from close range to cut the lead in half after Luke O'Nien's inch-perfect cross, but Matt Taylor's team hung on and came close to adding a third goal late on when Conor Washington's drive hit the post.

Tariqe Fosu played full throttle against Sunderland. He has made six appearances for Rotherham United in the Championship.
