Tema fans rally behind Black Stars ahead of crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali

As the Ghana national senior team, the Black Stars, gear up for their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali, fans in Tema are displaying high levels of confidence and optimism.

In conversations with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), several supporters expressed their unwavering belief in the team's ability to secure a victory.

Taxi driver, Mr. Justice Asare, remains confident in the Black Stars despite the challenges that come with playing an away game. He believes that with the right mindset and strong performances from key players like Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus, the team can emerge victorious.

Commercial driver, Mr. Emmanuel Adjei, emphasized the importance of national unity and support for the team. He urged Ghanaians to rally behind the team with prayers and encouragement, despite recent disappointments, as the upcoming game is crucial for the country's qualification hopes.

Mobile money agent, Mr. Kelvin Obeng, highlighted the emotional connection fans have with the team. He stated that a Black Stars match is more than just football; it's a matter of national pride.

Ghana is currently aiming to return to winning form after a mixed start in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, with one win and one loss in their first two matches. They began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar in Kumasi but then suffered a 1-0 defeat to Comoros in Moroni.

The qualifier against Mali is set for this evening at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako, kicking off at 19:00. Following that, Ghana will face the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Currently sitting 4th in Group I, the Black Stars are hoping to secure victories in both games to boost their chances of qualifying for the World Cup, which will be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
