That would have been great - Otto Addo on William brothers playing for Ghana in future

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo will be delighted to see both Inaki Williams and Nico Williams play for Ghana in future.

Born in Bilbao to Ghanaian parents, Inaki chose to represent Ghana after previously playing for Spain at youth level and in a 2016 friendly at senior level, while Nico is yet to decide despite being call-up by Spain for the September friendlies ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Williams, 28, made his debut for Ghana when he climbed off the bench in the 3-0 friendly defeat to Brazil in France last Friday.

"That would have been great but his brother decided to play for Spain which is fair and respected as well. We would have loved to see him Ghana but I can understand this," coach Addo said at his pre-match press conference.

"I was also born in Germany and grew up in Germany so you also have two homes in your heart so this is always a difficult decision so we respect that; hopefully it would great if we could play against Spain."

Ghana will take on Nicaragua today in their final September friendly as preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 continues.

The Black Stars will be looking to bounce back to winning ways against the North American country after they were thrashed by Brazil in Le Harve and with only two games to play before the finals.

The match will take place at Estadio Francisco Artes Carrasco in Lorca at 18:00 GMT.
