Veteran Ivorian attacking midfielder, Max Gradel has rallied his teammates to fight to make the country proud in the last stages of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

According to him, Ivorians have supported the Elephants massively during the 2023 AFCON and must not be let down.

Speaking in a pre-match interview ahead of the DR Congo game in the semi-finals, Max Gradel said it is important that players give their all to make the people proud.

“Every AFCON is different. This one is particular you have to admit that it is tough. We are playing at home which makes it a very special AFCON. We have seen the motivation of people and fans which helps us give our best. Against Senegal, we felt the support even when they were in the lead.

“When you see your people singing your national anthem while you are a man down, it is incredible and that is why we have to make them proud,” Max Gradel said.

The semi-final game between DR Congo and Ivory Coast will be played on Wednesday, February 7.

The match will kick off at 8 pm at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.
