There is politics in Black Stars call-ups – Latif Blessing

Published on: 22 September 2019

Ghanaian attacker Latif Blessing has noted that there is politics associated with call-ups to the national team following his lack of inclusion into the Black Stars in the last couple of years.

The winger has seen a significant rise in the past seasons after joining MLS side Kansas City from Liberty Professionals.

Prior to his departure from Ghana, Blessing was named the Player of the season in 2016 after hugely impressing throughout the campaign.

His outstanding showing with Kansas saw him secure a move to Los Angeles FC where he has now managed to make a name for himself after cementing a place in the side.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Mark Whicker, Latif Blessing has shared that the politics associated with call-ups to the national team has resulted in his neglect.

“I don’t get it. Yes, it’s politics. There is a lot of politics in Ghana when it comes to football”, the former Liberty Professionals man said.

He added, “I’ve heard that they think the MLS is not a good league. Why say that? There are other MLS players who are on the national team”.

Latif Blessing has scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists after making 31 appearances in the ongoing season.
