Thieves run away with equipment worth GHS1m after hitting Len Clay Stadium

The Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium has been robbed of equipment worth GHS1 million following a raid by thieves, information reaching footballghana.com has revealed.

The home of Ashanti Gold SC recently saw a facelift as part of preparations by the management of the club ahead of the start of the new football season next month.

Today, information picked up from Sunyani-based Nimdee FM has revealed that lighting equipment worth USD$172,000 has been stolen by thieves.

According to reports, the unidentified thieves dug tunnels and created channels that led them to the stadium.

They then cut the cables which were meant to be used for electrical works on the floodlight at the Len Clay Stadium for the 2020/2021 season and beyond.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the matter has already been reported to the Police with the security agency investigating to bring the perpetrators to book.
