Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that midfielder Thomas Partey will not be available for their trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Ghana international missed Wednesday’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium due to a muscular injury.

Although Partey’s injury is not serious but Arteta says the 27-year-old is still feeling some discomfort and will be under observation, leading up to the lunchtime kickoff.

“We have to assess him (on Friday) again,” Arteta said ahead of the early kick-off game. “He had a little muscle discomfort and will be assessed this morning."

After spending a significant amount of time on the sidelines, Emile Smith Rowe might rejoin the team.

“Emile will be training today. If he’s fine, he’ll be in the squad,” he added.

Partey has been a key figure for the Gunners as they fight to end the Premier League title drought.
