Thomas Partey is key to Arsenal - Ex-England striker Darren Bent

Former England and Sunderland striker Darren Bent has lauded Thomas Partey for his performance in Arsenal's 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Partey, who lasted the entire duration of the game helped the Gunners claim biggest top-flight victory over Forest at the Emirates stadium.

The 29-year-old received the ball outside the box and unleashed a first-time shot into the top corner.

"Thomas Partey is key to this Arsenal team, more control more protection for the back line," Bent posted on his twitter.

Gabriel Martinelli scored Arsenal's opening goal in the fifth minute before the home side extended the lead in the 49th minute through Brazilian forward Nelson.

He collected his brace in the 53rd minute after Arsenal broke through. Partey scored the fourth for the dominant Gunners in the 57th minute before captain Martin Odegaard added the fifth in the 78th minute.

Arteta will be hoping to keep Partey off the sidelines as he has struggled with injuries since moving to the Emirates.

Partey has made 12 appearances and scored two goals across all competitions for Arsenal this season.

He is expected named in Ghana's squad for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
