Thommo urges Liverpool to go for unsettled Arsenal playmaker Wilshere

Liverpool hero Phil Thompson wants to see Jurgen Klopp move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Wilshere has been linked with a move away from Arsenal, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

"With his fitness, I would take him," Thompson said on Sky Sports.

“I would, at Liverpool. I think he's got that much ability, I've always even a great lover of him.

“We have players like Wijnaldum in there, where they play more central. If it was Wijnaldum (who he replaced), it would give him great opportunities.

“I'm just thinking, even there (at Arsenal) he's played as a holding one. Even Jordan, Jordan's had a lot of injuries himself.

“I just think he has that quality and on most days, probably more than some of them and we're talking about (Mesut) Ozil and how many times he turns up, I think you get more.

“When he's fit, I think you get more from Jack Wilshere, even playing in an advanced role.

“I think he's a great player, I really do. Low-centre of gravity, keeps the ball very very well.

“Probably should give you more goals but I think yeah, I would take him at Liverpool."
