Tony Pulis Demands Cutting Edge From Baggies With Winnable Games Approaching

Published on: 14 November 2016

Tony Pulis has called for his West Brom players to show some cutting edge as the Baggies boss looks to turn draws into victories and climb up the Premier League table.

West Brom currently sit 11th in the table but Pulis feels their position could have been higher had they capitalised on solid performances and taken three points away from games, instead of one.

The Baggies have drawn seven out of their last 15 league games but their next three games - home to Burnley and Watford and away to Hull City - represent genuine opportunities to record victories and climb into the top half of the table.

We've drawn too many games, that's the problem, without a shadow of a doubt, he said, when asked about Albion's form. This year we've been at Sunderland and should have won that game.

"In the first half Tottenham were very good, but after we got the goal in the second half we should have won that game. That's two wins. We've had two draws from games we could have easily had six points.

I think the most important thing is we actually embrace the games and are not in any way, shape or form, on the back foot when the game starts, said Pulis. We've got to go out there and be positive.

Pulis also said that he will continue to focus much of his game plan on scoring from set-pieces, with the Baggies having netted five from corners already so far this season - the manager seeing it as a key weakness in several Premier League teams.

Teams concede lots of goals off set plays, they're massive, he said. It's interesting when you speak to managers of (Pep) Guardiola's ilk and he talks about how organised they have to be with them and defending them.
