Top Nigerian politician takes swipe at Sports Minister Sunday Dare after losing World Cup ticket to Ghana

Top Nigerian politician, Oloye Akin Alabi has taken a swipe at the countries Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, following the Super Eagles’ 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff defeat to Ghana.

The Black Stars held the Super Eagles to a 1-1 draw which secured them a spot at the Mundial in Qatar this year's after qualifying with 1-1 aggregate on an away goal rule.

Arsenal star Thomas Partey opened the scoring of the decisive game after 10 minutes at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong converted a penalty to draw the Super Eagles level after a VAR decision in the 22nd minute.

In a post sighted by Footballghana.com, Akin Alabi blamed Nigeria’s Sports Minister for their inability to qualify for the World Cup.

“I’ve seen my team lose many times and I accept it as part of the game. I was at the stadium today and the organization shocked me more than the result.

“The entire sports ministry, starting from Mr. Sunday Dare absolutely bottled it. Disgraceful.” He tweeted.

The Super Eagles who were in search of their 7th World Cup qualification will have to wait until the next four years.
