Tottenham 3-0 Hull: Christian Eriksen Brace Sees Spurs Return to Winning Ways

Published on: 13 December 2016

Tottenham returned to winning ways thanks to a brace from Christian Erkisen, who became extremely close to hittinghis first hat-trick of his career in Spurs' dominant display.

Spurs swept away a struggling Hull side after the Danish international struck in both half's, followed by a rare goal from Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama to seal the victory.

Danny Rose teed up Eriksen's first of the night in the 14th minute having set him up on a plate as the result of some fine work down the left-hand side.

Former Spurs man Jake Livermore tested Hugo Lloris 25 minutes in and then so did Andrew Robertson with his dangerous cross.

It was then Spurs who became the threat with Dele Alli proving a menace after his surging run forwards, which eventually brought a smart save from David Marshall to keep his side in it.

Spurs managed to comfortably control the game against a poor Hull side, but in the first half failed to kill off the game following numerous half chances.

The North-London side had somewhat of a mishap in the opening stages of the second half coming somewhat fortuitous to have not conceded as Walker became lucky to get away with an unwise lunge in the area.

Victor Wanyama found himself in trouble for a short period of the second half especially after his loose back pass. Although his presence on the attacking threat wasn't so great either in that time after side-footing a poor shot towards Hull's net.

Then in the 63rd minute Tottenham finally got their second goal with Kyle Walker making a surging run forward to provide the ball in for Christian Eriksen to hit his and his sides second goal of the night.

That same midfielder was easily the star performer of the night and saw his beautifully hit free-kick tipped onto the post by David Marshall in the between the sticks only for Victor Wanyama to tuck away the rebound and seal the victory for his side, who are chasing the top four after a minor breakup in the flow of their season prior to this match.

The Tigers can have no real complaints over the defeat itself, after Tottenham's continuous dominance throughout, but perhaps the scoreline is a bad reflection of the visitors performance overall.

Tottenham's Lineup: Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertinghen, Rose, Dier, Wanyama, Sissokon (85' Onomah), Eriksen, Alli (62' Winks), Kane (74' Son)
