Tottenham ace Harry Kane says he's always open to taking advice from England legend Alan Shearer.

Kane says Shearer, now a pundit for the BBC, was an "inspirational figure" growing up and someone who he has turned to for advice.

"I've met Alan a few times and he's always been very good with me," said Kane.

"We've spoken about a striker's mentality and finishing. The first time I met him I was going through a bit of a dry spell in terms of goals in the Premier League and he just told me to keep believing in myself and the chances and goals would come, and they did in the end and of course I went on to win the Golden Boot.

"It was good to listen to him and you have to respect what he has achieved in his career.

"He was a great finisher but above all I liked how he scored different types of goals. Headers, goals from distance, poacher's goals... all sorts of finishes."
