Tottenham Hotspur Defender Toby Alderweireld Poised for Return After Training With First-Team

Tottenham HotspurdefenderToby Alderweireld is close to a return to Premier Leagueaction after he completed two training sessions with the first-team this week, according toreports.


The 27-year-old hasn't played since he picked up a knee injury against West Brom in October, with Spurs winning just once in nine outings in his absence.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was handed a boost this week after the Belgian returned to training, he returned with a double-session on Tuesday and no injury concerns have been noted since.


The Tottenham staff will continue to monitorAlderweireld this week, meaning that he could be back in the starting line-up for Saturday's clash with Swansea.

Pochettino is aiming to overcome Tottenham's slump, which culminated in a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, by putting all players on double-sessions this week as he hopes to get more points on the board.


After playing Swansea, Spurs will travel to Old Trafford to play Jose Mourinho's Manchester United, who qualified for the EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday after hammering West Ham 4-1.
