Tottenham Hotspur's Toby Alderweireld Looks Set to Sign New Long-Term Deal With the Club

Tottenham Hotspur's attempts to tie down their key players on long term contracts looks set to continue, with star defender Toby Alderweireld the next in line, according tothe Mirror.

The North London side have been on a good runwhen it comes to extending contract this season, with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and, most recently, captain Hugo Lloris all committing their future to the club.

Now it seems that Belgian international Alderweireld is the next player to receive the famous embrace from manager Mauricio Pochettino in the photograph used to announce the contract extension.

Alderweirled is in his second season at White Hart Lane, having signed permanently from Atletico Madrid last summer, following a successful spell in the Premier League the year before with Southampton.

He has been a key figure for Spurs, forming an almost impregnable partnership with compatriot Jan Vertonghen at the back and helping to establish the Spurs back line as one of the most solid in the top flight.

His absence for part of this season due to injury was felt painfully by Tottenham Hotpsur, whose unbeaten run ended at the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the end of last month.

Merry X-mas Everyone!!!!

The former Ajax player's current deal still has three years left to run, but chairman Daniel Levy is keen to extend that for a further two seasons while also bumping up his wage package too, presumably.
