Tottenham stars Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld have been ruled out of Spurs' match with Leicester on Saturday.

Centre-back Alderweireld injured his knee in an innocuous incident in the draw againstWest Brom, while Kane has been out since damaging his ankle in the win over Sunderland. Both players have reportedly made good progress, but neither will be available for the clash between last seasons title rivals.

"Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld are both making good progress but are still unavailable for tomorrow", Mauricio Pochettino told Tottenham's Twitter account.

Alderweireld has played a key role in Tottenham's defence since joining the club last season, helping the side record 13 clean sheets last season in an impressive central defence partnership with Jan Vertonghen, his former teammate at Ajax.

Spurs have kept five keen sheets this season, four with Alderweireld, stoppingBournemouth from scoring last weekend in the Belgian's absence. Eric Dier has stepped in alongside Vertonghen to fill the void, but Spurs fans will be hoping Alderweireld is fit for upcoming derbies against Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea.

Spurs have arguably felt the absence of Kane up front more, with summer signing Vincent Janssen struggling for goals in the Premier League. Son Heung-min had stepped up, scoring four league goals in Kane's absence, but hasn't scored in Tottenham's past three games.

Janssen has scored twice so far this season, both penalties in Tottenham's EFL Cup matches against Gillingham and Liverpool. Spurs are currently a point behind the Premier League's top three and behind Chelsea on goal difference.
