TP Mazembe owner Moïse Katumbi announces decision to contest presidency of DR Congo in 2023

The bankroller of TP Mazambe, Moïse Katumbi has announced that he has decided to contest the Presidential elections of the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2023.

Besides being a successful businessman, Moïse Katumbi is also a well-known Congolese Politician.

From 2007 to September 2015, he was Governor of Katanga Province, located in the southern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He was a member of the People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy until September 2015 and made a significant impact.

Although he had been silent on his desire to contest for the DRC Presidential polls in the past year, he has finally broken his silence.

Speaking on RFI and France 24 today, Moïse Katumbi has officially announced that he will vie for the highest political position.

"I am a candidate because the situation in Congo is chaotic and because I have to save a people in danger,” the successful Congolese businessman said.

He said together with the Congolese people, the country will be transformed through a rebuilding process that will strengthen the army and the security of the country to ensure jobs are created and infrastructure is improved significantly.
