Trelleborgs FF head coach Peter Swärdh has backed new signing Abdul Fatawu Safiu to use his qualities to improve the team this season.

On Tuesday, the Ghanaian striker joined the Swedish second-tier side from Asante Kotoko on season-long loan deal with an option for further two years extension.

Speaking after his unveiling, the coach disclosed how important Safiu will be to the team in the 2019/20 season.

“He (Fatawu) is creative and should strengthen our offensive qualities,” Swärdh said at a press conference during Fatawu’s unveiling.

He has previously for Vimmerby IF in Sweden during the 2013 season where he scored seven (7) goals in 20 games.

He was one of Asante Kotoko’s standout players in the GFA Normalisation Committee Special Competition as they defeated Karela United in the final to clinch the trophy.

Due to his stellar performances, he earned a call-up to the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which was held in Egypt.
