U-23 Afcon: FC Utrecht youngster Abass Issah replaces Ropapa Mensah in Ghana U-23 squad

FC Utrecht forward Abass Issah is set to replace Nashville striker Ropapa Mensah in the Black Meteors team for the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt. 

Mensah was unable to join coach Ibrahim Tanko's side due to club engagement hence he will be replaced by Abass Issah.

Issah, who is currently on loan at FC Utrecht from FC Mainz, will be joining the team on Tuesday in Cairo.

The former Black Starlets skipper has been released by the Dutch club for the tournament which commences on Friday.

The 21-year-old has made nine appearances and scored goal for FC Utrecht so far this season.

Ghana have been drawn in group A together with hosts Egypt, Cameroon and Mali.

The Black Meteors will face Cameroon in their Group A opener.

The competition will serve as qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympic games next year.
