Nicknamed the Black Meteors, the West African giants locked horns with Cote d’Ivoire in a semi-final match earlier this afternoon but were unfortunately beaten on penalties.

The 90 minutes ended 2-2 with Youssouf Dao bagging a brace for the Ivorians as Yaw Yeboah and Evans Mensah found the back of the net for Ghana.

Both side's inability to get a winning goal at the end of extra time meant that the game had to be decided via the penalty shootout.

Cote d’Ivoire came out on top by converting 3 of their kicks against the 2 converted by Ghana.

In the other semi-final game this evening, Egypt has defeated South Africa 3-0 to advance into the finals.

What that means is that Ghana will battle with South Africa for the 3rd place finish. That game will be played on Friday, November 22, 2019, at 14:30GMT.

Ghana needs to win to keep her hopes of qualifying to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games alive.
