U23 AFCON: Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko content with officiating in heavy defeat against Morocco

Published on: 28 June 2023

Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed his contentment with officiating despite heavy defeat to Morocco in their second group game at the U23 AFCON tournament.

Ghana were humiliated 5-1 by the host nation on Tuesday night, reducing their prospects of reaching the semifinals.

At the post-match conference, Tanko expressed satisfaction about officiating despite his outfit humiliation.

“I can’t say much about the performance of the referees. We had the VAR supporting them, so all the decision they took; I think is okay. I think they are doing very well”

Ghana must now win at all costs against Guinea to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Failure to beat Guinea will mean the Black Meteors will exit the U23 AFCON at the Group Stage, missing out on qualification for the Olympic Games in the process.

The game between Ghana and Guinea is scheduled to be played on Friday, June 30.
