U23 AFCON: Morale of players is high ahead of Congo game – Ghana captain Afriyie Barnieh

Ghana U23 captain, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has indicated that the Black Meteors are ready for the opening match of the 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, the former Hearts of Oak forward said the morale in camp is high ahead of the first game of the Black Meteors.

According to him, the Black Meteors will fight to win the U23 AFCON and qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games.

“It’s a good atmosphere in our camp. On and off the pitch the morale is really high in our camp.

“Everything is quite good and our objective for this competition is to qualify for the Olympic Games and also to win the trophy,” Daniel Afriyie Barnieh said.

The Black Meteors captain continued, “It means a lot to me to participate in the Olympic Games because it is one of the biggest competitions in the world.”

“It’s a competition that has seen a lot of stars participate in over the years.”

The match between Ghana and Congo will be played today at the Prince Moulay Abdullah Stadium in Rabat.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 16:00gmt.
