\'Unhappy Eintracht Frankfurt experience\' convinced Varela to leave Man Utd

Published on: 06 August 2017

A disappointing experience at Eintracht Frankfurt convinced Guillermo Varela to leave Manchester United this month.

Varela has chosen to return to Uruguay at Penarol.

A friend told the Manchester Evening News: "Guillermo decided to play in Penarol for personal tranquility

"The player decided it after how badly he was treated in Frankfurt. His experience in Europe was not good.

"In 2017/18, Guillermo would have been making only £4,000 per week."

Eintracht axed Varela after a late season tattoo.

"The most unfair thing is that on the day of the tattoo, it was two Frankfurt players who got a tattoo each," a source close to the player added.

"It is not fair and this news affected the career and personal stability of the player."
