Usain Bolt, the 100-metre world record holder, says he has signed for a football club, with South African team Mamelodi Sundowns hinting at an announcement to come on Tuesday.

Bolt, 31, retired from athletics last summer after a glittering career in which he won eight Olympic gold medals.

He has always spoken of his desire to play football once his sprinting career was over, and on Sunday he tweeted to say "I've signed for a football team! Find out which one this Tuesday at 8am GMT."

Mamelodi Sundowns, with whom Bolt trained last month, then posted a photo of Bolt on Monday:

Football will never be the same. Find out tomorrow 8am GMT!
