USL week 20: Phoenix Rising poster boy Solomon Asante named in team of the Week

Ghanaian international, Solomon Asante has been named in the USL 'Team of the Week' for week 20 following his impressive display for Phoenix Rising in their victory over Austin bold FC.

Asante who is the captain for the side has been on fire this season and exhibited his quality once again during week 20 of the USL.

The attacker found the back of the net twice and provided one assist to help his side post a 6-0 victory over Austin Bold FC on Saturday night.

Despite making it into the team of the week, the pacey winger missed out on the ‘Player of the Week’ award which went to Bethlehem Steel FC goalkeeper Tomas Romero.

The goalkeeper recorded an 11-save shutout in Steel FC’s 1-0 victory against Louisville City FC to tie the Championship record for the most saves in a shutout in the league’s history.

At the end of the polls conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL Championship market, Romero received 67 percent of the polls with Asante coming in second with 19 percent.
