Amartey was taken off on a stretcher in the closing stages of Leicester's game at home to West Ham.
He was playing at right-back, left the field with his leg in a brace having suffered a serious-looking ankle injury following a clash with West Ham's Michail Antonio.
Black Stars coach CK Akonnor visited the injured Amartey, who has been out of action since 2018 after the ankle injury.
A series of complications have kept him on the sidelines. Amartey came close to first-team football in September last year after he was named on the bench in a league cup game versus Luton FC.
It has been a long road to recovery.
