Video: "I am touched" says GFA boss Kurt Okraku to Ghanaians in Qatar

Kurt Okraku, Ghana Football Association boss told excited supporters in Qatar that he is touched after they welcomed the Ghana contingent in grand style.

Ghana’s Black Stars have safely arrived in Qatar ahead of the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup this weekend. The much-anticipated tournament will officially kick off on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

The Black Stars have travelled to their base in Doha to await the start of the Mundial. The team arrived with players and technical team members dressed in beautiful traditional smock dresses.

Deservingly especially after beating Switzerland in a final friendly match on Thursday, the Black Stars were given a resounding welcome by Ghanaian fans in Qatar.

Videos on social media show a lot of fans at the team hotel of the Black Stars cheering and blowing horns to welcome the national team.

The supporters then stormed the team's hotel after the rousing welcome at the airport. They sang jama choruses outside drummed and danced.

Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be one of five African countries representing the continent. The Black Stars will compete in Group H of the group stages of the tournament. In that group, Ghana will battle it out with two-time champions Uruguay, as well as European giants Portugal.

The other group opponent is South Korea from Asia. While the 2022 FIFA World Cup will commence on Sunday, November 20, Ghana’s Black Stars will play their first match on November 24. Subsequently, Ghana will take on South Korea on November 28 before finishing the group stages campaign with a rematch against Uruguay.
