VIDEO: Lionel Messi Caught Shaking His Head at Luis Suarez for Picking Up Red Card

Published on: 08 February 2017

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have become quite the chums since the Uruguayan's move to Barcelona from Liverpool in 2014, but that doesn't mean that Messi lets him get away with everything.

The striker earned himself a sending off in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, providing the only sour note in his team's progression to the final.

Suarez picked up a second yellow in the 90th minute for an alleged elbow on Koke, but he laughed it off, claiming that it was exactly what the match official wanted. Barcelona have since announced their decision to appeal, as he will be ineligible to play in the final if it isn't rescinded.

"I was laughing at the yellow card, it was what he wanted (the referee), we will see if the club can appeal," the 30-year-old said after the match, via the Mirror.

Messi seemed quite unhappy as well, and was seen shaking his head at his teammate after the final whistle, while Suarez went in search of referee Jesus Gil Manzano, presumably to plead his innocence.

Spanish sourceSporthave suggested that Messi was simply motioning to his teammate that he shouldn't complain to the official, while others interpret it as a gesture of disappointment.
