VIDEO: Ronaldo Bizarrely Appeals for Offside Following Karim Benzema's Equaliser for Real Madrid

Published on: 15 February 2017

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself at the sharp end of criticism on Thursday morning after he appeared to appeal for offside when team-mate Karim Benzema scored an equalising goal against Napoli on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos survived an early scare to win 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeau, but it could have been different if the linesman had caved in to Ronaldo's offside appeal.

Right-back Dani Carvajal put in a beautiful ball with the outside of his right-foot, beating Ronaldo and the near-post and meeting Karim Benzema who confidently fired home.

But what was most strange about the goal was Ronaldo's reaction, as the Ballon d'Or winner raised his arm in the direction of the linesman before slowly walking away.

As ever when CR7 is involved in play, Twitter erupted with large numbers of supporters lamenting the Portuguesestar for his half-hearted appeal.

"Did Ronaldo try to call Benzema offside? 😂"
