Raphael Amponsah secured a dramatic late victory for Hearts of Oak, propelling them to a 2-1 triumph over Accra Lions during match week 11 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This crucial away win marked their first of the season and marked a successful beginning for interim coach Bashiru Rahim. The victory propelled Hearts of Oak to the 9th position on the league table with 15 points, while Lions found themselves in the 14th spot with 13 points.

Hamza Issah initiated the scoring for the Phobians in the sixth minute, capitalizing on a splendid cross from Salifu Ibrahim on the left side of the attack. The young player skillfully nodded the ball in from the far post, opening the scoring.

Accra Lions responded with an equalizer just three minutes before the half-hour mark, as Abass Samari Salifu headed the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Richmond Ayi.

The first half concluded with a 1-1 scoreline, courtesy of goals from Hamza for Hearts of Oak and Abass Samari for Accra Lions.

In the dying moments of the game, Raphael Amponsah sealed the victory for the Phobians with a remarkable goal from a considerable distance.

Looking ahead, Accra Lions are set to face league leaders Aduana FC as guests at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park on Sunday, November 26, in match week 12 of the Ghana Premier League.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak will play host to Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium on the same day, aiming to secure back-to-back victories for the first time this season.
