Accra Lions failed to stage a comeback in their match week six game against Real Tamale United on Friday afternoon.
The Lions were beaten 3-1 by the Tamale-based club at the Accra Sports Stadium. This victory gives the away side their second win in four games and also moves them to the top of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
Real Tamale United skipper Baba Kushibo opened the scoring in the encounter after pouncing on an error from Mohammed Ali to fire his team into the lead in the 6th minute.
The away side continued to push more men forward and succeeded in extending their league to 2-0 through Mohammed Mankuyeli in the 15th minute. The goal came as a result of goalkeeper Daniel Afful's failure to control a back pass from Ali.
Real Tamale United headed to the dressing room with two goals in the bag.
Accra Lions scored their consolation goal in the 57th minute through defender Abdul Rahman Ali.
The White and Blue completed the scoring with a strike from Abdul Aziz in the 68th minute.
Accra Lions will play Bofoakwa Tano in their next league game and RTU will take on Aduana Stars.
