Stade Rennais qualified for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France on Saturday at the expense of Bordeaux. The Red and Black beat Bordeaux 2-1 at the Matmut Atlantique.
Bourigeaud opened the scoring for Rennais in the 23rd minute. On a very good through ball from Theate, the playmaker seizes the ball perfectly with excellent control and lays it off to Bourigeaud.
Just before the break, Girondins attempted a final offensive. In a move initiated by Pirringuel, Elis played the ball toward Maja who deceives Mandanda. to make it 1-1.
Stade Rennais regained the lead in the 54th minute. After good work from Traoré and Bourigeaud in the penalty area, the ball returned to Doku. The Belgian aimed a strike countered by Bokele which deceives the vigilance of Straczek.
On a very awkward gesture and a high foot on the ankle of Tait, Bokele was sent off by the referee in the 60th minute.
Jeremy Doku was substituted in the 74th minute and replaced by winger Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Stade Rennais will play Clermont Foot in the Ligue 1 on the 11th of January.
