Head coach of the Black Satellites of Ghana, Abdul Karim Zito has blamed the weather in Niger for defeat to Nigeria in the WAFU B Cup of Nations opener.

The Black Satellites suffered a 2-0 defeat in their first game of the WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations at the GSK Stadium on Sunday evening.

Goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Ahmed Abdullai in each half of the game ensure the Nigerians picks the points at stake.

Speaking after the game, the experienced trainer attributed his side poor start to the competition to the weather.

“When you compare where I came from and the current situation here, there are differences. There are some factors that affects performance and one of them is the weather. When you look at the atmosphere here and you look at what is happening in Ghana, there are not the same and that is why I recommended for us to be in Niger early and play some friendly games to acquire the necessary energy to face what you want to do and this we did not do”

“Now, the preparation is after this match, we are now okay. We have prepared ourselves towards Burkina Faso, though they will also play before us but that will be our preparation period. We lost to Nigeria to prepare ourselves because they’ve seen it before us. we will use the Burkina game to make amendment because we have adopted to the weather when playing. My players were mobile in Ghana but they couldn’t run here” he said.
