Walter Mazzarri Claims Watford Can 'Fight Any Premier League Team' After Everton Win

Watford manager Walter Mazzarri has claimed his side can compete with any Premier League team on their day.

The Hornets beat Manchester United earlier in the season, while they also squeezed past Everton at the weekend with a 3-2 win. Speaking toWatford's official club websiteahead of the match against Manchester City, Mazzarri insisted his side can match other top sides in the league.

I said this to my players, Mazzarri stated.

"If we put ourselves in front of our opponents we can fight against any Premier League team. If we are 100% ready, we can play against any team in the Premier League and battle for the three points.'

"This is something that gives us a lot of positivity before the game."

Manchester City, Watford's opponents on Wednesday, lost at Leicester 4-2 on Saturday, and Mazzarri believes that game will have some bearing on the outcome of the match at the Etihad on Wednesday.

"I saw the game against Leicester," Mazzarri continued.

"I was surprised, but in Italy we have a saying, 'each game has it's own story'. This won't help us. We will find Manchester City very angry and concentrated, we won't have the luck that they will underestimate us."

Following his side'swin against Everton, Mazzarri claimed he is yet to decide on his starting line-up.

"After such an intense game like the one against Everton, where we spent a lot physically and mentally, it's still very early for me to decide on the team that will take part in the game against Manchester City.

"Some of the players trained individually, some trained with the whole team. In order to make a decision we will assess them tomorrow or the day after."
