Walter Mazzarri Slams Mistakes as Missed Chances Cost Hornets in 1-0 Defeat to Black Cats

Walter Mazzarri slammed his side's mistakes and missed chances as Watford slumped to a 1-0 defeat to relegation candidates Sunderland, after the Hornetsdominated the first-half, but just couldn't get the all important goal.


Mazzarri expressed his frustration with their performance, saying:"We did everything ourselves and I'm very angry. We missed many chances in the first half and we gave them the goal easily."

The Italian revealed he spoke to the players and will come back fighting next time out, he said:"Sometimes you make mistakes but it's only our fault. We should have scored and we didn't. I've spoken with the guys, they know what they did, and we will have to sort it out."

"I'm concerned by the way we play. I was happy with the performance but if we don't take our chances, we won't get anywhere."


Mazzarri vented his anger and said:"I'm angry because we didn't manage to take our chances, the many chances that we had." He then added, "And then of course at the end we ended up paying for those missed chances, and this is something we must work on."


The 1-0 defeat left Mazzarri's team in 12th place, with the team sufferinga fourth defeat in five as the pressure mounts on Mazzarri to pick up some points. The Hornets play Crystal Palace on Boxing Day and will be shortof confidence heading into this crucial fixture for both sides.
