Warnock eyeing reinforcements

Published on: 05 October 2018

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has admitted his side will have to try and grind out results in the Premier League before they can get reinforcements in the January transfer window.

The Bluebirds have had a tough start to the season back in the top flight and are yet to win a game, having only managed two points from their first seven games.

Cardiff have had some tough encounters in that time, having already played the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in back-to-back games.

Warnock claims transfer targets are in the pipeline and hopes they can pick up significant points before reinforcements arrive at the start of next year.

He told reporters: "At the minute having looked at the situation for seven games, we do need two or three quality players. But we need to grind out results until January, maybe try one or two things to see if we can get goals from other areas.

"Our top scorer last year was 10 goals, so we've not been prolific even in the Championship. But it's not been the goals that's concerned me, it’s been letting them in.

"Our chief scout has got to come up with names, from abroad as well as England, and we've got to be careful and make sure we get value for money in our dealings."

Next up for Cardiff is another tough trip on the road as they prepare to travel to Wembley to face Tottenham on Saturday.

Spurs are 2/9 to win, 6/1 to draw and 14/1 to lose to. Warnock's side.
