Wayne Rooney Has Just Broken a Man Utd Record After Striking Against Feyenoord

Published on: 23 November 2016

Wayne Rooney has been through the ringer over the last few months.

But the signs are there; things might really be looking up for the much-maligned United skipper. After all, he'sjust broken an all-time Manchester United goalscoring record.

The England captain was handed a starting berth by Jose Mourinho against Feyenoord on Thursday night in their critical Europa League group stage clash, and it didn't take him long to repay his manager's faith and putt his side ahead.

Rooney now United's outright leading scorer in Europe with 39 goals, surpassing Ruud van Nistelrooy.

His goal though has made Rooney United's all-time leading goalscorer in European competition, as he's notched his 39th goal on the continental stage. And the strike has taken him one closer to that other record we're all expecting him to break too.

Rooney's current goalscoring total in all competitions for United is 248 - just one shy of equalling Sir Bobby Charlton's United scoring record of 249.

It's only a matter of time...
