We are not bothered by our opponent for the knockout stage – Baba Rahman

Black Stars defender Baba Rahman has revealed that Ghana is not bothered by the kind of opposition they get to face at the knockout stages of the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Despite starting this year’s tournament slowly in Egypt, Ghana stepped up from two successive draws to beat the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau 2-0 at the Suez Stadium to ensure qualification into the knockout stage.

The crucial result pulled Ghana level with Cameroon on the Group F standings with 5 points each. Nonetheless, the Black Stars emerged as winners of the group and have been paired to face Tunisia in the round of 16.

Speaking in a post-match interview after the Guinea Bissau match, Baba Rahman indicated that all the countries that made it to this year’s tournament have good teams but they are not bothered by who they get to face at the knockout stage.

“I think if you go to this type of tournament you have to play every game as final because you will never know who you are going to meet next”.

"I think all the teams who made it to the AFCON are really good tactically and mentally and so I think we are not really bothered who we are going to face”, the player said.

The round of 16 match between Ghana and Tunisia will be played at the Ismailia Stadium on Monday, July 8, 2019.
