Asante Kotoko Communications Officer David Obeng has stated the club's away fans will play a key role in their attempt to defend the Ghana Premier League title.

According to David Obeng he expects the support for the club especially in away games to increase in the second round.

Asante Kotoko was beaten 2-0 by Dreams FC at the Dawu Sports Stadium on 12th February in their match week 17 game.

“What I will say is that when you look at Asante Kotoko away match the park is full because teams are happy to come and watch Asante Kotoko. So when we go for away matches no wonder things get tough for us," David Obeng said on Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

"We will plead if we will be able to defend the Ghana Premier League we can not do it alone without the backing and support of the supporters in our way matches. So although when going into the latter part we saw an improvement in numbers in terms of attendance we will plead this will increase. The players will also know that they have a big support behind them which will help them win,”

The Kumasi-based club is fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 27 points after 17 games.
