We did not celebrate because of our respect for Hearts of Oak - Abedi Ayew Pele after Nania FC’s FA Cup triumph

Ghana legend Abedi Ayew Pele has said Nania FC did not celebrate their triumph over Hearts of Oak due to the respect they have for the club.

The lower-tier Ghanaian club eliminated Hearts of Oak from the FA Cup competition on Wednesday at the Pobiman Complex.

The game ended goalless after 90 minutes of regular time, but Nania FC proved superior in the penalty shootout, winning 4-3.

After the game, the three-time African footballer of the Year winner said his outfit botched to jubilate after defeating the Phobians because of the respect they have for the Ghanaian giants.

“There is no motivation, we just want to enjoy ourselves. This is an FA Cup we have won before so we were just taking our chances and we are lucky to have a good day and win the match”

“We have a big respect for Hearts of Oak, it’s a big team and we respect them much. We all supported Hearts of Oak when we were kids so we cannot enjoy. You see we have won the game but we are quiet that shows Hearts of Oak belong to all of us” he said.

Nania FC defeated Asante Kotoko back in 2011 to annex the FA Cup title and are aiming to make a mark this campaign.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak will turn their attention to the Ghana Premier League after being booted out of the Cup competition.
