We prepared to beat Comoros; I’m disgruntled we lost, says Ghana coach Chris Hughton

The head coach of the Ghana national team, Chris Hughton has expressed disappointment after the defeat to Comoros.

According to him, he prepared the Black Stars to secure a win away from home in the second game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In his post-match interview, Coach Chris Hughton said Ghana could not win because chances created were not converted.

“We came here to win the game. We were not able to win so I’m not satisfied with the result. Congratulations to Comoros. I think we were the better team but what we couldn’t do was to get the goals to win the game,” Coach Chris Hughton said.

Since the defeat to Comoros on Tuesday, many Ghanaians have called for Coach Chris Hughton to be sacked.

The argument is that the Black Stars have not improved since he took over and Ghana will struggle to do well at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament if he remains at post.
