We suffered in our first training session- Thomas Partey

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has admitted that he and his team mates suffered in their first training session upon their return to the club's training ground.

La Liga announced the previous week that teams will be allowed to train in small groups as they prepare a return of football in June.

Atletico Madrid started their training session on Saturday after making its players take the coronavirus test on Wednesday. Partey has tested negative for the virus.

The Ghanaian revealed that he and his team mates have been keeping their distance in training but they will get used to it.

‘It was different,’ Atleti midfielder Partey said following the training session.

‘We suffered a bit at first because we’re not used to training and keeping a distance, but we’ll get used to it.

‘We’re used to being on vacation, training and playing with friends, but we could only stay at home, so it’s been difficult.

‘Because of the situation though, we’ve had to get used to it. We had to keep training at home as much as we could.

‘The problem is that we haven’t been able to touch the ball and play in groups, but we know we have to move little by little towards normality.’

The 26 year old made 38 appearances in all competitions before the tournaments were suspended.
