Former Black Stars coach, Avram Grant beleives they were the better side despite failing to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Ivory Coast.

After a difficult start to the tournament in Equatorial Guinea, the Black Stars made it to the finals of the tournament for the first since 2010.

However, the team lost 9-8 on penalty shootouts after 120 minutes of action.

However, the former Chelsea boss who replaced Kwesi Appiah after the Black Stars' poor performance at the 2014 World Cup says they were the better side despite missing out on teh trophy.

According to him, Yaya Toure, who captained teh Ivorians to lift the trophy told him the Black Stars were the better side.

“I will never forget we were in a tough group with Algeria, Senegal, and South Africa," Avram Grant told the press on his arrival in Ghana on June 20, 2023.

"We lost the first game but we showed loads of mentality we came to the finals and there was no doubt that we were better than Ivory Coast. Yaya Toure told me this when I met him,” the coach said.

Following the departure of Avram Grant, the Black Stars have struggled to make it to the final of the AFCON.

Ghana exited at the Round of 16 in Egypt in 2019 and exited at the group phase in 2019 in Cameroon.
