We will not sign established players - Karela United assistant coach Abukari Damba

Abukari Damba, the assistant coach of Karela United, has announced that the team is focusing on developing young, ambitious players rather than signing established stars.

This decision follows the release of the fixtures for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Despite narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Damba emphasized that Karela United has its own philosophy.

The club is committed to nurturing talent and will not be swayed into bringing in already seasoned players.

Instead, they have recruited young players with no Premier League experience but with a strong desire to make an impact.

“We approach player recruitment differently compared to other teams, which have their own philosophies, cultures, financial resources, and goals. As a growing club, we prioritize development over signing high-profile players,” Damba told Asempa FM as monitored by Footballghana.com.

He added, “We’re pleased with the talents we’ve identified over time. While monitoring players from lower divisions, we focus not only on their performance but also on their attitude and readiness to compete. Our aim is to bring in players with ambition.”

With the season kicking off on September 6, Karela United will begin their campaign with a home match against Asante Kotoko at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
