Werder Bremen Boss Alexander Nouri Claims Donald Trump's Visa Policy Is Destroying Past Achievements

Published on: 05 February 2017

Werder Bremen manager Alexander Nouri has waded into the debate surrounding America's controversial new vetting policy and has hit-out at Donald Trump's visa ban by claiming that achievements of the past 'have just been trampled on.'

The new US president has wasted little time in delivering his controversial policies and recently ordered that citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries be refused visas, and thus entry into America, in lieu of extremist forces thriving in those stated countries.

The decision has sparked uproar around the world, albeit with a vocal minority, with protests being held not just in the US, but in major cities across Europe, and whilst advocates of the policy insist it will help to keepcitizens safe, public figures continue to condemn Trump's legislation, such as London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

One of the countries that has been included on the visa ban list is Iran, and the Werder Bremen boss Alexander Nouri has revealed that due to his family ties with the country, he would no longer be able to travel to America.

Writing on his Facebookpage, he revealed:Due to the most recent decisions a I am currently not allowed to fly to the USA due to my dual citizenship. The country (US) and the people gave me a lot during my stays. Now I am concerned about family and friends there."

As alluded to,Nouri spent four years living in America where he worked in the MLS. The 37-year-old admitted that he was concerned about the implications of the ban, not only in the US, but on a global scale.

He added:I have great confidence in our policy and am concerned about how our democratic achievements of recent decades have just been trampled on. Not only in the USA. No democratically minded person is allowed to accept other people being judged and punished.

Since currently no friendlies with the SV Werder Bremen in the USA are planned, it will not affect my work for the time being. My full concentration applies to the BuLi and our success. But I think it is right and absolutely necessary to say something about it.

Still, one suspects that there's a lot more to this story than meets the eye.
