"We're praying for you, Christian Atsu" - Chelsea share

Christian Atsu's former club Chelsea have joined the thousands of people across the global who are praying the player comes out safe and sound after he was reported to be trapped under the rubble following the devastating earthquake in Turkey.

The Premier League side, who had a contract with Chelsea between 2013 and 2017, shared a message of goodwill on Twitter.

Atsu, who plays for Hatayaspor in the Turkish Super Lig after being captured in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on Monday, is currently the subject of a search and rescue mission.

Several of his team members reportedly needed to be saved by experts when the earthquake hit.

Taner Savut, the sporting director for Hatayspor, and Atsu are still missing.

The earthquake hit hard in Kahramanmaras, where Hatayspor are based.

In a dramatic rescue operation, two players and members of the technical crew were "taken out of the rubble."

And efforts to locate the Ghanaian international and Savut as soon as feasible continue.
