West Brom boss Megson explains going with Field: Will I be in charge Tuesday?

West Brom caretaker boss Gary Megson is unsure if he'll be in charge on Tuesday against Newcastle.

Megson guided West Brom to a 1-1 draw at Tottenham today and when asked if there had been any update from the board on next manager, he told Sky Sports: “I have no idea, I'm not on the board!

"I've taken the team for the last four days, I've taken the team down here last night, and it's gone really well in terms of preparation.

“If anything changes in the interim, it's nothing to do with anyone else other than the board, but we've got a huge game on Tuesday."

Megson also explained dropping Grzegorz Krychowiak for youngster Sam Field for the Spurs draw.

"In terms of Sam, I think he's going to have a great future as a footballer. He's got a lot of qualities," Megson explained after the game.

“We've had some players not playing well enough to keep their place week in week out.

“When you get in this position, you've got two choices, keep it the same or make changes.

“Everybody tries to alter this and tweak that. The reality is we played a lot better today than we have been doing."
