West Brom are confident striker Saido Berahino will sign a new contract with the club, according to the Mirror.

Berahino has had a fractured relationship with his club ever since Tottenham made deadline day bids for the former England U21 forward back in 2015, but the new contract will see Berahino's wages rise to £50,000 a week, with a £20m buyout clause to be put in place to ease the relationship between the player and the club's upper management.

Former West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace, who was criticised by Berahino for rejecting Tottenham's transfer advances, has left his role at the club and his replacement John Williams has reportedly held positive talks with Berahino, although no deal has yet been reached.

Berahino has made four Premier League appearances for the Baggies this season, failing to score so far and has recently been put on a strict diet and training regime after it was revealed he was overweight. He was left out of West Brom's squad for their trip to Liverpool on Saturday, where they lost 2-1.

The 23-year-old wasone of England's brightest young players, having scored an impressive 14 Premier League goals in 38 appearances back in the 2014-15 season. He has also played in an EFL Cup encounter this season, missing a penalty during the Baggies' loss to Northampton in the first round.
